A note for couples that live in a state that does not recognize same-sex marriage:
Marriage is a very important and life-affirming step that two persons undertake to seal their covenant in love. However, this step must be taken with caution and careful consideration of the legalities involved. We live in a world that does not always recognize nor support our relationships.
For this reason, we strongly recommend that you and your fiancé consult a lawyer skilled in legal issues facing same-sex marriages in your state of residence. Until the government deems marriage equality as legal in all states, there will be thorny issues that can cause misery and financial hardships to couples.
